A photographer with a vast range and extensive international experience, Istanbul-based Koray Erkaya began his professional career nearly two decades ago. He has worked as both a photographer and director for still and film shoots, from the highly commercial to the avant-garde, from architecture and couture fashion, to fast-paced location based productions.
He is graduated from The Academy of Fine Arts, Department of Photography, Istanbul in 1989.
In 1996 Awarded the “Kristal Elma” Prize for Best Advertising Photography for a Vog Stockings campaign and the same year he is selected as the official Camel Trophy photographer, an extreme outdoor Motor Sports competition and worked on the international events for five years. In 1997 publication of his book - Outer Limits – as well as a dedicated photography exhibition.
In 2004 he is chosen by Archive Magazine as one of the Best 200 Advertising Photographers (worldwide).A year later he is founded Dijipost, an ultra-sophisticated lab offering the highest level of photo, film and video retouching, manipulation, special effects and illustration in the region.
Establishment of HK Film Design Production, a firm offering creative design, scripting, direction and production of for television and film. He directed and produced a fashion lifestyle programme, entitled,“Sihirli Eller” in 2008.
He organised and opened an exhibition for autistic childerens. In 2010
Awarded by Medicat Mag for the Best Advertising Photograph “Swim Ugur who is going to catch you“ with a paralympic games campaign.
He opened a solo photo exhibition in Istanbul in May-June and in Paris in December 2010- January 2011 under the name “Don’t Tell Mamma”.
In may he is invited and opened an photo exhibition in “Festival Europeen de la photo de nu” with the serie of Don’t Tell Mamma. The same photo serie is exhibited in the city of Ulianovsk in Russia in October and November.
Last ten years he gave so many photographs to mix photo exhibitions and events.
He opened a solo photo-exhibition in Istanbul in January 2014 under the name “Self Touches”.
